VITAL TO AUSTRALIA PRIME MINISTER'S APPEAL MUST BE READY FOR WAR STRONG MILITIA NEEDED By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright SYDNEY, Dec. 5 In the course of an address, which was Broadcast throughout Australia, the Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, referred to the circumstances influencing the Government in its ambitious defence scheme. Mr. Lyons said ho did not believe for a moment that war was inevitable, "but if we hope to avoid war we must be prepared for it," he added. The Prime Minister made a strong appeal for co-operation in the campaign to increase the militia forces.
