PROTECTION WANTED WEST COAST SETTLERS [nr TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WESTPORT, Tuesday In the course of his tour of the Karamen district, the Minister of Mines, the Hon. C. Webb, was inter* bv deputations in the Wangapeka Valley which asked for protection from river erosion. , The deputation recalled the constau fear settlors had suffered of encroachment on their properties by the ijlttie Wanganui ,River, which from time to time, particularly since the 1929 earthquake, had swept away much of their best land, carrying with it cattle anQ inflicting other serious damage. The Minister promised to confer wita the Minister of Public Works, the BobR. Semple, on the subject.
