ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE OTHER CHARGES ADMITTED [by telegraph—owx correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday "This young man is an incorrigible thief," declared Detective-Sergeant A. B, Meiklejolin in the Magistrate's Court, when Howard Lee de Grut, aged 2'J, a bootmaker, appeared before Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., on seven charges. The offences alleged included the theft of money at Mount Uoskill and Hamilton, the theft of u suitcase and contents at Feilding, converting a car at Wellington, converting a car at Pnlmerston North, breaking and entering at Levin, and finally robbery at Levin with personal violence. Accused pleaded guilty to four charges that could he dealt with by the magistrate. "In view of your list and the chances you have had, I must send you to prison," said Mr. Lawry, who imposed sentences on each of four charges ranging up to three months' imprisonment. Evidence was tendered in respect of two charges relating to the burglary at Levin and the robbing of Mrs. A. Palmes at Levin with violence, and the accused, ( pleading guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence. Ho was remanded to Wellington on a charge of converting a car in that city.
