"ALWAYS GOOD-BYE"

DRAMA FOR THE CIVIC A dramatic story of the sacrifice and love of a young mother is offered in the outstanding 20th Century-Fox film "Always Good-bye," which is to be presented at the Civic Theatre on Friday. In a role similar to that which she played in "Stella Dallas," Barbara Stanwyck gives a performance equally as good as that in her previous film. The leading male role is taken by Herbert Marshall and, as in '"'Mad About Music," he plays his part with sympathy and imagination. Among the supporting players, a new child actor, John Russell, is outstanding. He sneaks perfect English arid acts with polished ease and naturalness. Miss Stanwyck appears as Margot Weston,, a young girl who witnesses a motor crash in which her husband is killed. She is discovered by a doctor (Marshall) preparing to commit suicide. He succeeds in bringing her to her senses and, when her child is "born, he finds it a home with some of his friends. They promise to look after the child provided that the mother will make no attempt ever to see it again. Margot accepts this condition, hoping only that her baby will be happy. She obtains a position in a fashionable gown shop and, some years later, when she is returning from a business visit to Paris, she finds herself travelling on the same boat as her son. In New York she learns that her son's foster-father has lost his wife and is about to marry a selfish woman who will take no interest in her son. Rather than have this happen, she determines to marry the adopted father of the boy herself, although she re/llly loves the doctor who has looked after her. The film has many dramatic scenes, to which all the players contribute. Other supporting roles are taken by lan Hunter, as the boy's adopted father. Lynn Bari, Cesar Romero, Binnie Barnes and Franklin Parigborn.
