Daladier, issued an ultimatum to the Finance Committee of the Chamber of Deputies to the effect that if his financial programme was not approved without major modifications he would postpone Mr. Chamberlain's visit and convoke the Chamber and the Senate for November 24 and seek a vote of confidence. The committee heard a two hours' explanation of the programme from the Minister of Finance, M. Reynaud. A Socialist motion rejecting M. Daladier's decrees was defeated by 20 votes to 18, with five abstentions. Later a motion was carried the text of which was accepted by the Government and which was equivalent to a vote of confidence.
