DOMINION CHILLED BEEF
| APPEARANCE CRITICISED EXAMPLE OF AUSTRALIA [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPOND EXT] FALMERSTON NORTH, Monday. The view that there was room for improvement in the appearance of chilled beef exported from New Zealand was expressed by Mr. C. R. Barnicoat, of the staff of the Dairy who has just returned from two years' study in the United States and other countries under a Commonwealth Fund Scholarship. Mr. Barnicoat said that while New Zealand chilled beef was of better quality than the Australian product the appearance was not so good. Wonderful new laboratories had been erected in Sydney to investigate th® storage and transport of meat, as well as other refrigerated products. In Brisbane the municipal abattoirs were also particularly well equipped for the meat export trade and had branch laboratories investigating chilled beef.
