PHOTOGRAPHER INJURED INCIDENT AT BASEBALL SCHOOLBOY PLAYER ALSO HURT The danger of getting too close to tho bat player in baseball games was shown at Blandford Park on Saturday afternoon, when a photographer was hit on tho head with a bat and suffered concussion. The victim, Mr. Bert Snowden, widower, aged 34, of 23 Spring Street, Morningside, was taking action pictures of tho various batters from close range when ho received his injury. After hitting the ball, a player of the Pioneers team threw away tho bat as he ran, and it struck Mr. Snowdcn with some forco on the tomplo. The sound of tho impact was heard in tho stand some 50vds. away, and Mr. Snowden dropped to tho ground unconscious. Ho was taken to tho Auckland Hospital in a St. John* ambulance, and his condition last night was not serious. A schoolboy, liex Quenton Sadgrove, aged 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sadgrove, of 39 Mount Albert Road, suffered an injury to his left hand while playing baseball yesterday afternoon. Ho was taken to tho Auckland Hospital, but his condition is not serious. COLLISION VICTIMS TWO YOUTHS IN HOSPITAL NEITHER IN SERIOUS CONDITION As the result of motoring- collisions in Auckland during the week-end, two youths, who were riding a motor-cycle and bicycle respectively, were injured and taken to tho Auckland Hospital in St. John ambulances. The condition of both patients was reported to be not serious last night. While riding a motor-cycle along Quay Street toward the city yesterday afternoon, Reginald Stace, labourer, aged 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Stace, living in tho Orakei suburb, collided with a motor-car travelling in the same direction as it turned to tho right toward Northern Wharf. He suffered concussion, scalp wounds and injuries to his right hand. Tho motorcycle was extensively damaged, and the panels on the right-hand side of the car were buckled, but none of the passengers was hurt. Colliding with a motor-cycle outside the residence of Dr. E. H. Bryant, on Farmers' Hill, Great South Road, on Saturday afternoon, Donald Haldane Makgill, aged 17, son of Mrs. Margaret Makgill, of 448 Great South Road, Remuera, suffered concussion and head injuries. Before being taken to hospital, ho was treated by Dr. Bryant. FOUND UNCONSCIOUS RAILWAY PORTER INJURED A railway porter, Mr. Robert Allan Alexander, single, aged 29, of Whangamarino, was found xmconscious, lying opposite the kindergarten in Franklin Road, Freeman's Bay, on Saturday evening. Tho injured man was taken in a St, John ambulance to the Auckland Hos* pital, suffering from concussion and head injuries, and it was some time before his identity was established. His condition; last night was not serious. KICKED BY A RACEHORSE UNUSUAL TE RAPA MISHAP £from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday While standing in the bird-cage at the Waikato Racing Club's meeting at To Rapa yesterday, Mr. A. H. Demler, of Motumaoho, an elderly farmer and racehorse owner, was kicked by a racehorse. Mr. Demler suffered a severe bruise on tho right thigh. After being given medical attention and resting for a timo in the ambulance room at the racecourse, Mr. Demler was able to return to his home. CAR STRIKES POWER POLE GREAT SOUTH ROAD MISHAP [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday When tho car she was driving toward Auckland left the road near Huntly at a corner of the Great South Road and collided with a power pole on Friday night, Mrs. Molly Scott, aged 33, of 89 Grafton Road, Auckland, a schoolteacher, suffered facial injuries and shock. Tho accident occured on the Hamilton sido of Huntly. Mrs. Scott, who has boon teaching for somo months at Otowa, netir Otorohnnga, was taken in a St. John ambulance to the Waikato Hospital, where her condition is reported to bo not serious.
