CLEVEDON DEFENCE CLUB Members of the Clevedon Defence Rifle Club commenced its first series of shoots for its No. 2 trophy on the 2poyds and 300 yds ranges. Points for the Championship Cup were also awarded and will run concurrently with the competitions throughout the season until the end of April. A more efficient and up-to-date method of handicapping was adopted. The shooting conditions were good. The silver spoon for the highest score was awarded to G. Deery. SECONDARY SCHOOLS EVENT [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday A high standard of markmanship was reached at a rifle shooting contest held between representatives of the Hamilton, Hamilton Technical, To Kuiti, Taumarunui and Te Awamutu High Schools at Hamilton. Tho senior aggregate match was won by J. R. Gordon (Hamilton High), with 131 points out of a possible 175. R. Smith (Te Kuiti) was runner-up. The junior aggregate event was won by T. R. Marston (Te Awamutu), with N. McCready (Te Awamutu) and K. McCauley (Taumarunui) runners-up. The teams' match was won by Te Awamutu (E. Clark, J. P. Cullen, M. Lofthouse, G. Haselden and D. Ramsbottom). The Waihi Hardware Trophy, presented by Mr. S. N. Miller, was won by Rifleman W. Feather with 95 points. A challenge teams' match was won by Rifleman E. Swindell's team with .352 points, J. Comes' team gaining 344 points. Tho shooting was of a vory high standard, tho sovon leaders making an aggregate score of 002, which is two points ahead of the Bay of Plenty record sot up last year. L. Walker shot well to make 90 off tho rifle. Loading aggregates to date are:—L. Walker, 194; L. Mikkolson, 193; J. Howat, 192; Davicß, 191; J. Walker, ISO; Moore, 189; fl. Mikkelson, 188.
