OTAGO SYNOD DECISION — .1. PRIVATE ENTERPRISE ISSUE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, 'Wednesday The Anglican Synod of Gtago and Southland to-day carried a resolution that a fire insurance department be established, with the Diocesan registrar as chief „ agent, for the control of all fire insurance on parish and parochial educational institutibns and orphanages within the diocese. I Mr. A. H. Allen, who is Mayor of Dunedin, protested against what he described as "an unwarranted interference" with private enterprise, but the proposal was carried by J35 votes to 10. One member of Synod reminded Mr. Allen that the City Corporation conducted a fire department which was considered a valuable asset, and that if he were consistent he would advocate its abolition.
