Mr. J. Fletcher and Mr. W. J. Fletcher left by last night's limited express for Wellington.
Mr. H. J. Kelliher left for Wellington by air yesterday. He was accompanied by' Mrs. Kelliher.
Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington, who has been indisposed for some weeks, has resumed his official duties.
Mr. J. A. Gilmour, S.M., who heard the Auckland glassworkers' dispute yesterday, left for Wellington by train last night. , ■
Mr. G. Mayes, locomotive foreman at Frankton Junction, will retire on Saturday after 40 years' service in the Railway Department.
Mr. S. B. Babbage, of Auckland, has completed a course in theology at Bristol and has now gone to London University to work for his degree of philosophy.
Mr. Neil A. Mowbray, of Auckland, who was awarded an engineering travelling scholarship by the University of New Zealand, has arrived in London, where be proposes to do further study..
Mr. C. M. P. Brown, formerly of Wanganui, has been appointed to the intelligence department of the Midland Bank, London. He recently completed two years at Clare College, Cambridge.
Sir George Elliot, who has boefti abroad for the past 18 months, returned by tho Wanganella from Sydney yesterday. He is accompanied by Lady' Elliot, and they are at the Hotel Cargen.
Lieutenant H. G. C. Merritt. of the 14th Sikh Regiment, India,, eldest son of Mr. H. T. Merritt, of Auckland, arrived by the Wanganella from Sydney yesterday, to spend leave in-Auckland. He travelled bv air from Calcutta to Sydney.
Mr. R. C. Matthews, advertising manager for the Railway Department, and Mr. E. J. Marklew, assistant engineer in the communications department- of the railways, were passengers by the limited express from the south yesterday morning.
Sir George King, an English angler who has visited New Zealand on several previous occasions, arrived by the Wansranella from Sydney yesterday. He intends to spend several months fishing in New Zealand, and may also visit the glacier district irit the South Island. Sir George is at the Station Hotel.
