FINES FOR SPEEDING

PAPAKURA PROSECUTIONS GREAT SOUTH ROAD OFFENCES A fine of £lO and costs amounting to 10s was imposed by Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., in the Papakura Magistrate's Court yesterday, on Norman Vivian Newdick, who appeared on a charge of dangerous driving. It was stated in evidence by a traffic inspector that Newdick had passed two intersections on the Great South Road at 72 miles an hour. In a similar charge Max .lonasi Friedlander was also fined £lO. A traffic inspector stated that Friedlander entered the .'SO miles an hour area at Papatoetoe at 60 miles an hour. A Alftori woman, Rebecca Jury, was fined a similar amount for dangerous driving on the Netherton-Paeroa highway, it being stated in evidence that her car attained a speed of 65 miles an hour.
