CANDIDATES FOR OXFORD British Wireless RUGBY, Oct, 20 The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir John Simon, sent a letter to the Conservative candidate for the Oxford seat in the House of Commons, the Hon. Quinton Hogg, son of Viscount Hailsham, stating that the times through which the country is passing require it to bo united and strong, and expressing the hope that the Oxford electors will make their contribution to that end b.v returning Mr. Hogg. The Liberal candidate, Mr. Lindsay, received a message from the Marquess of Crewe and Sir Archibald Sinclair, saying that they are asking Liberal voters at Oxford to give him wholehearted support. The by-election was made necessary by the death of Mr. R. C. Bourne on August 8.
