NEW FIRE STATION
ERECTION AT HOWICK ! TOWN BOARD'S DECISION A decision to proceed with the erection of a new fire station building on the board's section at the corner of Picton and Wellington Streets was made at a meeting of the Howick [Town Board. When completed the building is expected to be a great asset to the town as up to the present the fire engine has been accommodated in a garage without any facilities for speedy despatch. It was stated that members of the .volunteer fire brigade had raised a portion of the funds for the building and it was the intention of the board to provide the balance up to £l5O. A report from the medical officer of health 6f a recent test of the town district water supply stated that the purity and quality were satisfactory in every way. It was decided to proceed with the tar-sealing of intersections on the main highway at Church Street, Mellon's Bay Road and Buckland's Beach Road.
