MANNING COAL MINES
MEN VOTE IN FAVOUR - DELAY IN RESUMPTION SYDNEY. Oct. 15 Although the coal miners generally have expressed willingness to return to work, the colliery proprietors so far have been particularly reticent and have given no intimation ag. to when they will be prepared to reopen the mines. As a result the miners' president announced that if the mines were not reopened within 10 days, then there would be serious developments. A representative of leading coal owners said unofficially that it was unlikely that work would begin in the mines next week. Aggregate meetings of miners on the western field accepted the formula for a settlement by overwhelming majorities. Only 20 votes wore cast against acceptance. Mass meetings of miners in all parts of Queensland decided almost unanimously to accept the formula.
