TRIALS AT WAITEMATA DENISON TROPHIES TO CAIRNS The first trial fours of the Waitemata Boating Club's season were contested on Saturday afternoon, when the annual traces for trophies donated by the president, Mr. W. Dcnison, were held. Four crews took the water. The club officially opened its season the previous Saturday with old members' day. The final between crews stroked by C. H. Cairns and J. Sweeney was fairly evenly contested. It was only in the last 100 yds that Cairns established any appreciable advantage to cross the line a clear length ahead Th« winning crew comprised:—C. H. Cairns (stroke). S. Billing, R. Mikkleson, W. Churches and N. Finnegan (cox).
