CROQUET CLUBS

OFFICIAL OPENINGS PLAY FOR THE SEASON Many visitors from neighbouring clubs attended the official opening of the Otorohanga Croquet Club this week. The vice-president, Mrs. Tait, of Kiokio, made a brief speech and Mrs. •J. Sing played the iirst ball. Competitions were won as follows: Club golf, Mrs. Passan; croquet bobs, Mrs. McLeod (Te Kuiti); progressive. A, Mrs. Nobes, B, Mrs. McDonnell. Afternoon tea was served. MALVERN CLUB Visitors present at the opening of the 'Malvern Croquet Club included the Mayor of Mount Albert, Mr. H. A. Anderson, and Mrs. Anderson, and the president of the Auckland Croquet Association, Airs. Webber. Brief speeches were made by the president of the club Mrs. Aughton, Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Webber, and the Mayoress plaved the first ball Prizewinners for the afternoon were Mrs. Haves, Mrs. Corrie, Mrs. Vi right and Mrs. Wilson, The clubs represented were: —Ayondale. tinted Devonport, Rockv Nook, Grey Lynn, Mont le Grand. Hallyburton-John-stone, Mount Eden, North Shore, Remuera, Epsom. Mount Albert anu Henderson. HILLSBORO CLUB The official opening of the Hillsboro Croquet Club was held on Thursday. The president, Mrs. Moslev, welcomed a large number of members and friends. The president of the Auckland Croquet Association, Mrs. Webber, added her good wishes, Mrs. Greenville, senior member of the club, played the first ball and declared the lawns open for the season. Progressive croquet was plaved and afternoon tea served. At the" conclusion Mrs. Moslev presented prizes to the following pi a vers:—A, Mrs. Bennett. Mrs. Page; B, Mrs. Dyson, Mrs. Tanner.
