YOUNG BOY'S DARING
LEDGE TRAVERSED HIGH ABOVE THE STREET DUNEDIN HOTEL ESCAPADE [bt telegraph—owx correspoxdext] DUXEDIN, Friday When he unconcernedly made a tour of a narrow ledge four storeys above the street, a promising young violinist, Alan Lovedav, provided some dramatic moments in High Street, Dunedin, today. The boy, who is only 10 years old, climbed out of a bedroom window of the hotel where he was staying and strolled along the ledge until he reached a pillar, where he rested a while. He then turned about with some difficulty and made the return journey with easy confidence. When he reached his own window again he encountered his mother, who had fearfully watched his return journey, frightened to call out lest she should distract his attention from his task. Even when the dangers of his escapade were pointed out to him in no uncertain terms he did not seem at all impressed, as to him it was just a thrilling adventure. To watchers, however, it was a different story, and the appearance of the youthful musician on such a narrow stage_ was regarded with consternation. The manager of the hotel received message after message warning him of the danger to his young guest, but there was nothing he could do but wait until the return journey was completed.
