SALES TAX YIELD
DECLINE IN AUGUST FIRST FOR TWO MONTHS AGGREGATE ABOVE LAST YEAR For the first time since May sales tax revenue has fallen below that of the corresponding month of 1937. The receipts during August amounted to £287,519, a decrease of £8145 on the total collected in July and £13,483 lower than the figure for August of last year.
