Mr Spencer R. Mason returned to Auckiarid from Wellington by train yesterday. . «. Mr A. Coleman, S.M., was a passenger for the South by the limited express last night. Air. Alex Harvey, accompanied by Mrs Harvey, returned to Auckland by yesterday's 'limited express from the South. Mr. D. A. Ewen, managing director of Sargood, Son and Ewen, Limited, returned south last night by the limited express. Sir Walter Stringer, chairman of the War Pensions Appeal Board, was a passenger to Auckland by jesterday 8 limited express. Mr. W. S. Mac Gibbon has been reelected president of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, and Sir Cyril Ward vice-president.

Dr. W. H. Penseler, formerly director of the School of Mine* at Huntly, sailed by the Wanganella last night on a visit to Australia. Dr. Penseler has been in the East for the past three years, and has been spending a holiday in New Zealand.

Mr. Ronald C. Muston will leave by the M&riposa on Monday for the United States to secure information as to the latest methods for doing the specialised work required in building the Dominion provincial courts for the 1940 Centennial Exhibition. Mr. Muston will be accompanied by Mrs. Muston.

Mr. E. Aldridge has been appointed a representative of the Devonport Borough Council on the North Shore Boroughs Water Board in place of Mr. E. H. Little, who has resigned. The vacancy on the board caused by the resignation of Mr. W. M. White as a Takapuna Borough Council member has been filled bv the appointment of Mr. C. H. M. Wills.
