GROWTH OF LIVING TISSUE That all plant and animal life depends on the presence of minerals : s stressed by Dr. H. C. Trumble, senior agronomist at the Waite Agricultural Institute, South Australia. These minerals, ho points actually supply only a very small proportion of the living tissues, but are vital to both animals and plants. Tho relatively minute quantities of minerals incorporated in all forms of life are absolutely essential for normal growth and development. Every tiny plant or animal cell requires some mineral material to enable it to function as a normal part of the whole. Minerals are needed in greatest amounts by the young organism at the period when growth is most active.
