VOTING AS ABSENTEES NO < SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT , [by telegraph—press association] ■WELLINGTON, Tuesday A denial that a special arrangement had been or could be made to enable women taking part in the golf championship tournament at the Ngamotu links, New Plymouth, on election day to record their votes as absentees at the golf house was.made this afternoon by'the chief electoral officer, Mr. G. G. Hodgkins.Mr. Hodgkins said the announcement had apparently been niade through some misunderstanding," because it would not -be possible to carry out the special arrangement referred to without contravening the provisions of the Electoral Act. "Women who would bo absent from their usual place of abode to attend the golf tournament ■would havo tb record their votes as absentees in the ordinary way at the nearest polling booth. This should not any special hardship for voters, because the nearest polling booth to the Ngamotu links was at Fitzroy, only a mile away. '
