BUTTER ACCUMULATES

STOCKS IN LONDON DOUBLE LAST YEAR'S TOTAL NEW ZEALAND AMOUNT LOWER Stored stocks of butter in London are still particularly high, although the New Zealand total is not .excessive and is now lower than last year. Prices are maintained under the maximum price scheme, which will continue to operate end of this week. The Imperial Economic Committee has estimated stocks of all butters in storo at the end of last month at 1.175,284 boxes. Although this figure shows a reduction t of 69,078 boxes on tho total in the middle of the month, it is still more than double the amount of 594,918 boxes held at September 30, 1937. Stocks of New Zealand butter have increased by 244 tons to 3849 during the past week. The total a year ago was 4160 tons: Australian stocks ' at 4183 tons arc considerably higher than last year*s figure of 1622 tons.
