SOCIAL SECURITY PLAN ONLY FOR SICKNESS BOARD MEMBER RESIGNS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday A Labour member of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, Dr. R. E. Hope-Pearson, has resigned. He explained that he covld ■ not conscientiously support the Social Security Act. There was nothing in- the scheme, he said, to provide for the prevention of sickness and disease. The scheme was a sickness scheme, and not a health scheme.
