WRESTLERS ATTACKED

WAIHI BOUT INTERRUPTED OFFENDERS EACH FINED £3 [by telegraph—OWN" correspondent] WAIHI, Wednesday Disorderly conduct while drunk was admitted by Robert William Paterson, aged 23, and Alfred Georgo Wright, aged 21, who appeared in the Magistrate's Court to-day. The charges arose out of an incident on tho evening ' of September 3, when a professional wrestling match between A 1 Dane (Australia) and Fred Batros (Syria) was being held in the Miners' Union Hall. Senior-Sergeant W. Blake said tho defendants had rushed on to a temporary stage set up in the hall ftnd had attacked tho wrestlers. They had been put out of the ring, but had insisted on coming back. One of tho wrestlers had refused to continue the match in the circumstances. "We had had a lew drinks," replied the defendants when 'asked by Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., if they had any .excuse. "You see, you not only created a disturbance but also spoiled tho fun of the' evening," said the magistrate in imposing a fine of £3 and costs in Gcicli case. The defendants were also ordered to pay 15s each for damage done to the wrestling mat.
