LABOUR COSTS

During tho discussion on the floßkworkors' dispute in Conciliation Council at Wellington, Mr. D. Graham (Lower Ilutt) paid tho direct labour costs in New Zealand in felt manufacture were 25 per cent higher than in Australia. This was due to the higher wages paid in New Zealand, and to the slower work. Mr. Graham mentioned as a further explanation that the Australian workman, as well as receiving lower wages, worked more hours a week than the New Zealander.
