CONSTABLE ASSAULTED
SEAMAN TO PAY £5 FINE A charge of assaulting Constable G. A. Olson on Thursday evening, while lawfullv executing his duty, was admitted" by Herbert Edward Turner, seaman, aged 53 (Mr. Aekins), in the Police Court yesterday. Sub-Inspector Fox said a disturbance, arising from domestic troubles, occurred in accused's home, when lie arrived homo on Thursday evening under the influence of. liquor. He began to smash the furniture, and when a constable was called accused abused him and struck accused's wife. A tussle ensued, and accused struck the constable several blows be ore being handcuffed out in the middle oi the road. , „ , Mr. Aekins said that accused was sorry for his conduct and his wife requested that he should bo dealt with leniently, as sho folt ho had been taught his lesson. „ T , rw Tho magistrate, Mr. C._ B Oir Walker, imposed a. hue of £u, allowing 14 days for payment.
