ENGINE-DRIVERS' AWARD
HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Friday An application for a Dominion award to cover engine-drivers employed by hospital boards was discussed before Mr. M. J. Reardon, Conciliation Commissioner, at Wellington to-day. When the dispute was adjourned there appeared good prospects of a settlement, being reached. Agreement was reached on a number of claims, wages and hours of work being held o\ei " n tjJ to-morrow, when the emplojeis will announce their attitude toward tbe amended wages claims of the workers. The union sought a 40-hour week of five days, the employers asked lor the right to work up to 42 hours and 44 hours in certain hospitals and a oi~ day week where thoso hours applied.
