MANY ATTRACTIONS SPRING RACE MEETING FOOTBALL AND GOLF MATCHES A variety of sporting attractions has been arranged for the week-end A great deal of interest will bo centred in ttio Avondalo Jockey Club's Spring Meeting to-day. Good fields have been entered for the eveirts, which are likely to be closely contested.The chief Rugby football attraction will lie the match between Auckland and South Auckland colts at Lden Park, A bright game should .be witnessed, as both teams have a record of fast, open football. The curtain-raiser will be between tho Navy and senior reserve grade teams. At Carlaw Park, tho final of the Auckland Rugby League's Roope Rooster knock-out competition will be contested by Richmond and City. The winner of this' match will meet Marist next Saturday for the champion of champions contest. The third round of the Auckland Football Association's knock-out contest for the Falcon Cup will bo played to-day, the main attraction at Blandford Park being the match between Eastern Suburbs and Thistle.

Several golf matches are to take place this week-end. At tho Auckland Club, the first round of the junior championship and a medal match will be played, the qualifying rounds of the senior and intermediate championships having been postponed until next Meekend. An inter-club match for the Thomson Cup will be played between Maungakiekie and Titirangi, and the second round of the championship contest will be played at tho Maungakiekie Club. At Glendowie, tho main event will be the first round of the championships, while the second round of the Alison Memorial Trophy will bo contested at the "Waitemata Club. ) In hockey, tho primary schools seven-a-side tournament will be held at llemuera, while basketball and bowling contests, harrier racing and cycling will be continued.
