THE KETCH MANDALAY
TRANSFER TO WELLINGTON [by telegraph—own correspondent] "WELLINGTON'. Wednesday The cruising ketch-yacht Mandalay, probably the best-known South Island yacht, owned and built by Mr. George Andrews, of Bedcliffs, has been pur* chased by a Wellington yachtsman and is expected to be brought up the coast from Lyttelton in about a month's time.
The Mandalay is about 40ft. in length, with an auxiliary engine. She is simply and comfortably laid out, with a single large cabin extending the length of '"the vessel and subdivided with curtains. Her seaworthiness lias been proved in many coastal cruises, ' and there is practically no east coast port from Wellington to Stewart island she has not visited. This addition to the Wellington pleasure fleet brings its strength to * greater number of large cruising crart than in many years. Over the past five years until the present season few big cruising yachts were owned m Wellington. In the past year, however, there have been many notable additions to the keeler fleets, Bonl j locally built but the majority purchased from "other centres.
