Of 60 dozen quart bottles of beer purchased on August 2 only 33 bottles were found, 57 dozen bottles having been disposed of during ono week. This liquor and also a quantity of spirits had not been declared.

At a later stage Watson said lie purchased this beer at lis a dozen and retailed the bottles at 2s each. Sergeant Campagnolo said that, although Watsou was carrying on in a large way, lie was a better type than the average "sly grog" seller.
