TEPID BATHS WATER
ASSURANCE OF SAFETY PURIFYING PLANT WORK An assurance as to the safety of the Tepid Baths, following a recent series of bacteriological tests and daily examinations, was given yesterday by Dr. T. J. Hughes, medical officer of health at Auckland. Dr. Hughes said that improvements in the purifying plant and its control in the men's section of the baths had produced tho desired results. "Tho work has resulted in a definite improvement in the state of tho water," Dr. Hughes said. "Bacteriological examinations and daily tests have shown the water to bo safe." Tenders for the installation of water treatment and filtration plants at the Parnell and Shelly Beach municipal baths were accepted at tho last meeting of the City Council. Tho city engineer, Mr. J. Tyler, said the work to be done inside the baths should bo com- | ploted before the opening of tho bathI ing season in October.
