EVENING RECEPTION

JUNIOR NATIONAL LEAGUE ENTHUSIASTIC GATHERING MR. AND MRS. COATES PRESENT An enthusiastic reception was given to the Rt. Hon. .J, G. Coates and Mrs. Coates at a social evening given in their honour on Saturday by members of the .limior .National League of the Auckland branch of the National Party. 'I lie rooms of the Catholic Women's League, in which the function was held, had been simply decorated with festoons of red. white and blue ribbons, clusters of balloons iu these three shades and howls of spring flowers and foliage.

The guests were received by the president of the Junior National League, Mr. Ronald Corson, and.Mrs. Corson, the latter wearing a frock of clover, daflodil and green striped moire silk. Mrs. Coates was wearing navy blue Chautilly lace with a wistaria satin sash. Miss Sheila Coates. who accompanied her, parents, wore petunia and blue diagonal-striped silk.

A brief welcome was extended to the guests of honour by Mr. Corson, in replying Mr. Coates emphasised the necessity of exerting, every effort to ensure that the British heritage of individual freedom should never be denied to the younger generation of New Zealand.
