INSTITUTE AFFAIRS

_\ka Aka. —The monthly meeting was presided over by Mrs. J. K. Hull. Songs were sung by Miss Bessie Kitfcoiij who was presented with a posy. The accompanist was Mrs. JO. Atger. A demonstration of dress designing and cutting was given. A competition was won by Mrs. G. Brewster and Miss Phyllis McXamara, who tied for first place. The receiving hostess was Mrs. W. Sinclair, and the hostesses for afternoon tea were Mesdames Tompkins, AY. Kitson and 10. Atger. Glen field. —There was a large attendance of guests from sister institutes ut the sixth birthday celebrations of the Glonfiold Institute, held recently. Items were given by Mesdames McKnight, "Walker, and Payne, and Miss B. Birch, and a short play was presented. Afternoon tea was served by tho committee.

Mangonui.—Mrs. K. T. Wrathall presided at the monthly meeting of the institute. The results of the competitions were: —Gems, Mrs. C. \\ . Harris 1; Mrs. AY. Sucritsky 2; cove ret I coat hanger, Miss Mavis Wrathall 1, Mrs. It. T. Wrathall 2. A new member was enrolled. The hostesses were Mrs. It. Debbie and Miss Mavis Wrathall. Otnua.—Mrs. Hyland presided at the monthly meeting. Mrs. Campbell gave an account of the Dominion conference, and items were contributed by Airs. Jv. Hull and Miss Joan Bright. Competitions were won by Mesdames Alosely, T. .Johnson and and Misses Dickey and Cox. Aliss l'raser was receiving hostess, and the tea hostesses were Mesdames Bird and Bright, and Misses T. Bird, O. Bright and ,J. Bright. Tho trading stall was conducted by Mesdames Holmes and T. .Johnson. Otorohanga. —There was a large attendance of members at the monthly meeting, which was presided over by Airs. A. A. Smith. A demonstration of tho refooting of silk stockings was given by Mrs. Webster, and Airs. Munro demonstrated embroidery picture making. Tho results of the cake competition were: —Airs. Church 1, Airs. Cooke 2, Airs. Webster I). The hostesses were Mesdames Stone, C. King and Koholv. Thames.—There was a largo attendance at the monthly meeting, at which Aliss Dunlop presided. A humorous sketch was presented by Mrs. Whiteside, Airs. Kennedv and Airs. Minciter, and Airs. W. Marshall sang. Sistor Snodgrass gave a talk oil tho treatment and earo of infantilo paralysis patients. Competitions were won by Mrs. G. Cox and Airs. Wells. Afternoon tea was served by Airs. G. Cox, Airs. Frisker and Airs. K. Cameron.

Kihikihi.—Mrs. Harrc presided at the monthly meeting. Airs. Kaine read a report on the Dominion conference, and Airs. Webber gave a short talk.. Smocking was by Mrs. Hieliards, of To Awamutu. The results of the competitions were as follows: — Names: Airs. Kaine, 1. Plain spongo: Mrs, Kaine, 1; Airs. Penny, 2. Tho judges were Airs, Webber and Mrs. Hieliards, of To Awamutu.
