PROFESSOR S. R. * HARLOW ARRIVAL BY THE MONTEREY Visiting New Zealand under the auspices of the Carnegie Endowment of International Peace Professor S. It. Harlow, of Northampton, Massachusetts, will arrive here by the Monterey on Friday. Since 192.3 Professor Harlow has been professor of religion and Biblical literature at Smith College, Northampton. After completing his university educa-

tion at Harvard, Union Theological Seminary, Columbia and Hartford, he served two years as associate minister at Spring Street Presbyterian Church, New York. From 1912 to 1922 Professor Harlow was a missionary of the American Board of Foreign Missions and chaplain and head of the Department of Religion and Sociology at International College, Smyrna, Turkey. For seven years he was general secretary of the Near East Student Volunteer Movement, and ill 1922 be visited colleges and schools in Egypt, India, China and Japan as a delegate from the Near East to the conference of the World Student Christian Federation in Pekin. During the Great War Professor Harlow served as a regional director of the Y.M.C.A. in France with the American Expeditionary Force and the New Zealand division. He plans to spend a month in New Zealand visiting the main centres, and hopes to renew acquaintance with many returned soldiers whom he met in France. He will preach in St. David's Presbyterian Church on Sunday evening.
