The visitors, who won by 12 goals to nil, played a very fast, open game. Their positional play was very good, their stick work was clever and there was pood understanding between the forwards and nailbacks. , , ~ All the Indian forwards played well, the wings Shahabuddin and P. Fernandez making many good openings. A. Latif gave a good display at inside-right, his stick work being very clever. CHALLENGE SHIELD * MATCHES FOR AUCKLAND The executive committee of the Auckland Hockey Association received congratulations at its meeting last evening from tho Auckland Football Association and the Otago Hockey Association, on Auckland's win against the Prince of Manavadar's Indian team. The Wellington Association advised that it accepted September 10 for its challenge match against Auckland for the New Zealand Challenge Shield, now held by Auckland. The New Zealand Association forwarded a challenge on behalf of the Manawatu Association. It was decided to nominate September 17 as tho date for this match. Tho United Clnb was declared winner of the senior championship and Somerville A winner of the Fourth Grade knock-out competition.
