OVERSEAS LEAGUE
MUSICAL AT HOME ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON Vases of daffodils, wattle blossom and yellow clematis decorated the lounge at the Overseas League rooms yesterday, when a musical At Home was held. The programme, which had been arranged by Mrs. J. H. Wathew, was much appreciated by the large number of members present. Miss A. Sutton was the hostess for the afternoon, and Miss E. 'it Emerson was- the chairman. The guest of honour was Madame Zealandia,- the Dunedin coloratura soprano, who is at present visiting Auckland. Songs were sung by Mrs. H. McLellan, Miss Josie Heath Preest, Miss Wynn Hindle, Mr. E. Silver and Master James Shannahen. The Celeste Trio, comprising Mrs. L. G. Grace (piano), Mrs. L. E. Rudd (violin) and Miss June Taylor ('cello) played orchestral items and piano solos were given by Mr. Eric Bell. Miss Anita Webster recited. The accompanists were Mrs. L. G. Grace and Mr. Eric Bell. Floral sprays were presented to the lady artiste. At the conclusion of the programme, afternoon tea was served by the house committee, comprising Mrs. W. R. Golden, Miss E. H. Willoughby and Miss E. A. File.
