FRANKLIN SHOW
A SUCCESSFUL YEAR [from our owx correspondent] rUKEKOIIE. Monday With entries at the Franklin Agricultural and Pastoral Society's o3rd annual show in February last reaching the record total of 3057, and the profit and loss account for tho year ended May 31 last showing the best net profit in the history of tho society, £475, the report and balance-sheet to bo presented at the society's annual meeting next week makes pleasant reading. In the, report the president. Mr. W. J. D. Sharp, points out that the net profit is arrived at after Hie expenditure of £'396 in building work on the showgrounds and £32 in improvements and additions in other directions, together with'the allocation of £!3 as sinking fund. In addition, £152 has been allowed as depreciation and £122 allocated to bad debts reserve. Mr. Sharp mentions that since May 31, £IOO has been paid off the mortgages on the showground, reducing them to £4OOO. The membership of the society increased by 21 during the year, the roll now standing at GIG.
