BLOCKED LAKE OUTLET

PRECAUTION BY SETTLERS [by TKLKGRArn —OWN CORRESPONDENT] OISBORNB, Wednesday Steps have been taken by settlers to cut a drain through the slip which is blocking the outlet to the Rcpongaerc lake. The slip came down in very heavy rain a little over a week ago and the water was dammed back for a distance of more than four miles, the lake, usually about 100 acres in extent, Hooding about 150 acres of neighbouring land. The slip was from three to four acres in extent. Hopes aro entertained that the level of the lake will be lowered sufficiently by this means to remove any threat of the slip bursting and creating havoc on the lower lands.
