ENGINE PLOUGHS THROUGH A DERAILMENT CAUSED [by telegraph—PßESS association] TAUMARUNUI, Wednesday A heavy slip came down at nine o'clock this morning on tho' Taumaru-nui-Stratford line, between Tangarakau and Heao, about three miles from Tangarakau. A train from Stratford which was scheduled to arrive at Taumarunui at 12.30 p.m., ran into the slip and ploughed its way right through the debris before engine was derailed. The cow-catcher was buckled, but no other damage was done and no one was injured. A train which left Taumarunui at 5.30 o'clock this morning for Stratford was held up by the slip and returned to Taumaruijui to-night. Two relief trains are at the slip and it was •expected the line would be clear by eight o'clock to-night. The slip contains about 150 cubic yards of spoil and extends for about a chain on the line. The train was travelling slowly at the time, but the impact and the spoil into which the engine ploughed was enough to .cause a partial derailment.
