IN EVENT OF CRISIS
ATTITUDE OF CANADA VISITING PROFESSOR'S VIEWS SYDNEY, August 9 In the course of an address to the Constitutional Association, Professor Alexander Brady, professor of political science at Toronto University, said that while culturally and economically Australia's contacts were singularly those of a mother State, Canada's position was different. Canada shared North America with a great dynamic State—another Englishspeaking community whose life ran in distinct channels—which must, of necessity, influence Canadian life. Canadians liked to think that they had certain qualities that were lacking in the United States, but subconsciously the influence of the United States on Canadian institutions Mas increasing. Professor Brady added that his own view was that in any major European crisis likely to affect the integrity of the Empire, Canada would ultimately throw her weight into thfc scale with the other Dominions.
