HOSPITAL RATING
RELIEVING THE BURDEN LARGER SUBSIDY WANTED [by telegraph OWN correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday Recently the Kairanga County Council convened a conference to discuss the question of relief from hospital rating, and it was decided that the Government be approached with a view to obtaining a greater subsidy onlocal body contributions. Replies have bo far been received from 74 jural bodies which had been approached for their support, and all have intimated that they are willing, to join in the representations. The chairman, Mr. D. Collis, said at a meeting to-day that he hoped it would be possible to wait on the Government before the session ended, but it looked as if the National Health Scheme would l have some bearing on the proposal, s The Palmertson North City Council ; had approached the Municipal Associa- [ tion seeking its support, and a special i meeting of the executive of the latter : body was to be held so that joint action by both rural and municipal I local bodies might be possible.
