roxy and tivoli theatres The dramatic and fast-moving film "The Return of Jimmy Valentino" is to commence a season at the Roxy and Tivoli Theatres to-day. The second attraction, "Young Fugitives," is a comedy-drama in which appear Harry Davenport. Robert Wilcox, Clem Uevans and Dorothea Kent. Davis confesses to Howard who he is., but his daughter thinks that Dolan is the mystery man. Davis is forced i to open the sale, but in doing so he sets off an alarm, and Seapclli and his j gang are arrested. JAMES' THEATRE Some of the most spectacular flying scenes ever filmed are included in the - outstanding drama "Test Pilot," which : .will continue its season at St. James' ■ Theatre to-day. The principal roles are j capably portrayed by Clark Gable, j Myrna' Loy and Spencer Tracy. " ROSALIE " iS'elson Eddy and Eleanor Powell appear together for the first time in the j brilliant Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musical j production "Rosalie," to be presented at St. James' Theatre on Friday. The fine voice of Eddy is heard to advantage in such charming songs as "In the Still of the Night" and "Rosalie," j while the clever tap-dancing of Miss j Powell is one of the features of the film. Princess Rosalie (Eleanor is heir to the throne in the small Balkan kingdom of Romanza, and has been studying for two years in the United States, accompanied by her friend, the Countess Brenda (Ilona Massev). Rosa- j lie has fallen in love with a young cadet from the West Point Military Academy, Dick Thorpe (Nelson Eddy), and, when the time comes for her to return to her native land, she persuades Thorpe to visit Romanza for the annual festival. Complications ensue when Rosalia is betrothed to the son of Romanza\s chancellor, but the film is brought to a satisfactory conclusion. The slip porting cast includes Frank Morgan. May Robson, Billy Gilbert and Reginald Owen. MAYFAIR THEATRE • The dramatic production "Mr. Moto's continues a successful season at. the Mayfair Theatre to-day. 'The j theme deals with a mysterious murder I committed in the boxing ring and the solution of the crime by Peter Lorre. Included in the entertaining associate programme is a special short film, "lhe Royal Visit to France," which has just arrived bv air mail, 'lhis feature is exclusive to* the Mayfair Theatre. MAJESTIC THEATRE An amusing performance is given by the popular English comedian Sandy Powell in the entertaining comedy "It's a Grand. Old World," which heads the excellent double-feature programme at the Majestic Theatre to-day. Jhe second attraction is the enjoyable outdoor pro- . duetion, " Renfrew of the Royal Mounted," in which James Newill and Carol Hughes have the main roles, 'lhe film depicts the exciting life of the famous Canadian "Mounties." CIVIC THEATRE • With a cast consisting of artists from almost every type of entertainment, the spectacular production "The Goldwyn Follies" will-continue its season at the Civic Theatre to-day. The picture has been produced entirely in technicolour and the delicate imaginative use of colour is one of the most impressive features of the film. Hilarious situations abound in the comedy "Bringing Tip Baby," to be presented at the Civic Theatre on Friday. Carv Grant once again proves his versatility by giving an outstanding performance in the main comedy role and is ably supported by Katharine Hepburn. Much of the humour is supplied by "Baby," a playful pet leopard, and by Asta, the amusing terrier of the "Thin Man" scries of films. STATE THEATRE Spectacular scenes aro a feature of the unusual drama "Bad Guy," which heads the programme at the State Theatre to-night, lhe main roles are capably portrayed by Bruce Cabot and Virginia Grey, who are well supported hy Edward S'orris and Cliff Edwards. STAR CINEMA Entertainment at the Star Cinema today includes the films "Double or Nothing" and "Everybody's Doing ft." King Crosby, Martha Rave and Mary Carlisle appear in the first attraction. PRINCE EDWARD THEATRE .Outstanding entertainment is provided in the enjoyable double-feature' Programme, including "Kelly_ the Second" and "You May lie Next." which will be presented to-night at tho Prince Edward Theatre. BERKELEY, MISSION BAY The outstanding production "Victoria the Great,"'iii which Anna Nengle and Anton Walbrook appear, heads the current programme at the Berkeley Theatre, Mission Bay. Lewis Stone takes the role of ii mice famous pianist, who comes into the lives of Miss Bradna and Raymond and causes them to reform. ASTOR THEATRE The interesting programme to be presented to-night at the Astor Theatre includes the films "The Amazing Quest of Ernest Bliss" and "Two for To-night."
