HUTCHINSON'S WORK Although there were fewer visitors present than usual, there was a large attendance at the weekly luncheon meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club held in Milne and Choyce's Reception Hall yesterday. Mr. W. 10. Lewisham presided. On behalf of the Needles Rotary Club, California, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, governor of the New Zealand district of Rotary International, presented the club with an Aliioa cactus stick handed to him by a delegate to the recent annual Rotary Convention held in San Francisco. Short addresses were given by Mr. E. E. Vaile, who spoke on the establishment of a pflrk in the Waitakere Ranges as part of the Centennial celebrations, and by Mr. A. S. Bailey, who recently returned from a visit to Canada and the United States and who spoke of the references made to New Zealand at Rotary gatherings by Mr. Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary International. Eulogistic reference to the service of ■ Mr. A. J. Hutchinson, the club's official correspondent to Rotary International, was made by Mr. Lewisham, when introducing Mr. Hutchinson as the speaker for yesterday's function. "He is the outstanding international correspondent of this club and probably of any other club in Rotary," said Mr. Lewisham. "He keeps up a regular correspondence with every district governor in Rotary and recent overseas mail brought him 41 letters from these correspondents." Entitling his address "Hot Pot," Mr. Hutchinson spoke on a miscellany of topics. The vote of thanks was moved by Mr. J.,F. Ewen. Visitors to the function yesterday included Messrs. T. R. Catlev (London), L. J. Taylor (Christchurch), J. T. Werry (Wanganui), W. S. McLean (Palmerston North), W. P. Griffith (New Plymouth) and H. J. Haines (Auckland).
