BUILDING COSTS

Sir, —it seems almost incredible today for the average person to think of building even a small bungalow, bpcause tlio cost has risen almost 100 per cent during the last 12 months. I speak feelingly with personal experience as L am in the market and cannot possibly invest hundreds or thousands with any possible chance of an adequate return on my outlay. 1 have tried quotations for both blocks of flats and even a small bungalow, but as the tenders wore 75 per cent above the estimates, L am forced to drop the idea for some time to come. .1 am confident there are many others that are placed l'n a similar position. Many young couples who are contemplating matrimony, who are most anxious to build, will find that their marriages will be postponed indefinitely on this account. To think that the price they would have to pay would be in the vicinity of £2OOO makes it impossible. Surely there must, be some way out. None of us can afford to see a big loss staring at us should we he so foolish as to venture under the present conditions. Xujf Skd.
