TOTAL TO REACH A HUNDRED CLOTHING FIRM'S ACTION Because of a slackness in orders, which it attributes to the effects of overseas competition, one large Auckland clothing manufacturing firm last week putoff 16 hands, and it announces that within the next few days the number it proposes to discharge will be brought up to about 100. "As work upon which we are now engaged finishes we are putting off girls," said a representative of the firm. "We have made every endeavour to hold our staff together, but we are forced to make dismissals."
