THE EDEN DISTKICT national interests SELECTING A CANDIDATE NINE PERSONS NOMINATED Nine persons were nominated for the selection ballot for the official candidate to contest the Eden seat at the general election on behalf of the New Zealand National Party. The nominations, which closed on Saturday, were as follows: Dr. E. B. Gunson, Princes Street. City. Mr. J. A. C. Allnni, Curran Street, Ponsonby. Mr. B. W. Beaumont, Henley Road, Mount Eden. Mr C. E. Clarke, Bracken Avenue, Mount Eden. Mr. It. W. Corson, Maungakiekie Avenue, Green Lane. Mr. T. MeNab, Esplanade Road, Mount Eden. Mr. I). Pool, Eglinton Avenue, Mount Eden. Mr. A. M. Samuel, Grafton Road, City. Mr. M. S. Walker, Liverpool Street, Epsom. The date of the selection ballot for the official candidate will be fixed tonight by the executive of the Eden branch of the party. The present member for the electorate is Mr. W. T. Anderton (Labour).

CONTEST AT THAMES ADDRESS BY CANDIDATE [_BV telegraph—OWN correspondent] THAMES, Saturday The National candidate for the Thames electorate, Mr. W. A. Clark, addressed a meeting at Coromandel this week, when he received a very good hearing. Mr. G. Mannion presided. A number of questions were asked, and at the conclusion a vote of thanks and confidence was carried unanimously. Mr. Clark also addressed a crowded meeting at Colville, Mr. H. S. Curtis presiding. A vote of confidence was carried.

TAURANGA VOTERS 10,000 NAMES ON MAIN LIST [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAURANGA, Saturday The printing of the general roll of electors for the Tauranga electorate has been completed. There are 10,024 names on the new roll, an increase of 640 over the main roll of 19.35.
