TWO NEW LINERS CONSTRUCTION PLANS COST OF ABOUT £5,000,000 OTTAWA. July 11 At a cost of about £5,000.000, two new larger anrl faster ships will bo entering the Canada-Australia-Now Zealand service within two years:. They will be owned and operated by tho Canadian Pacific Steamship Company. They will have a speed of 22 knots, enabling' them to compete with the Matson liners from San Francisco, with fortnightly sailings from Vancouver. Sir Edward Beattv, chairman of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, sailed on Saturday for England to complete the negotiations. On the above message being referred to the Union Steam Ship Company of Tfew Zealand, Limited, it was stated that the vessels referred to, if they materialise, would be owned and operated by the Canadian-Australasian Line, Limited, of which the Union Steam Ship Company is half-owner.
