GROWING AIR FORCE
MEN FOR HOBSONVILLE 76 ADDmONAL RECRUITS A further detachment of 72 recruits for the Royal New Zealand Air Force, after three months' preliminary training at Trentham, arrived at Hobsonville Air Base yesterday. With four other recruits, due at the air base today, the new arrivals will brine the Hobsonville staff up to a total of 162, exclusive of officers and special personnel. In accordance with the recently-an-nounced policy of making Hobsonville the stores, technical training and repair depot for the Royal New Zealand Air Force, the 6taff has been substantially increased in recent months. Of the 76 latest arrivals, 42 will take a course for fitters. Work is still in progress at Hobsonville on the new accommodation block. One wing of the enlarged building remains to be completed. Assembly of some of the Blackburn Baffin aeroplanes, purchased from England by the Government, is still proceeding, the machines having reached New Zealand almost completely knoeked-down.
