POLICE COURT NEWS
TWO MEN REMANDED Charges of assaulting two men on Tuesday were preferred against a labourer, Herbert George Jones, aged 63, in the Police Court yesterday. In applying for a remand until Wednesday, Sub-Inspector Flanagan said one of tho men assaulted had been admitted to hospital suffering from concussion through being struck on tho head with a hammer by accused. Tho remand was granted. A carpenter, Oscar Nyberg, aged 28, appeared in answer to a charge of stealing household linen valued at £l2, tho property of Alexander McLaren Kerebs. On the application of DetectiveSergeant McHugh, accused was remanded until Wednesday. Bail of £IOO on accused's own recognisance and ono surety of £IOO was allowed.
