CIVIL SERVANT CHARGED SECOND OFFENCE OF KIND [BY TELEGRAPH FRKBS ASSOCIATION] BUN ED IX, Wednesday "On ono hand we have a man otherwise of good repute; on the other there is the public interest which must be paramount," stated Mr. J,. 11. Bartholomew, S.M., in the Police Court this morning, when sentencing a civil servant, James Henry McKay, aged 55, to a week's imprisonment for being intoxicated in charge of a car. Defendant was also prohibited from driving for two j'ears. Counsel stated that defendant held a high position in the service, being a member for 30 years. He had been on transfer to Duncdi'n for only a few weeks.
